Specialized input may help couples in a divorce

Florida couples that have experienced the agony of divorce can attest to anyone contemplating a divorce of their own that it can be extremely complex and wrought with emotions and many challenges. The need to agree with a soon-to-be former spouse on many topics is never easy. Divorce issues range from child custody to property division and more.

An article that appeared in a national news source recently outlined the potential benefits of using key professional experts to help navigate some of the more complex divorce legal issues. There are several specific types of such experts but five of the most common include those that help with child custody, income determination, real estate, valuation of businesses and vocational direction.

Child custody can sometimes be best determined with the help of a psychologist, counselor or other mental health worker. The ability to understand the best interest of a child can be made clearer with such professional input. An income expert is helpful in identifying the full earnings of spouses to ensure fair support agreements. Income can be difficult to assess if bonuses or other things factor in. Identifying appropriate value of real estate or businesses is critical to appropriate division of these assets and for a spouse who has not worked out of the home for a while, a vocational expert can give a window into his or her opportunities for work and earnings once divorced.

The end of a marriage is never an easy thing and extended disagreements or the inability to come to agreements over issues like these can make it even harder. If you are going through a divorce, you could ask your lawyer if such an expert would be helpful in your case.
